What is the Irish Baptist Historical Society?

Founded in 1968, the Irish Baptist Historical Society exists to promote the study of Irish Baptist history, foster interest in wider church history, explore important theological issues, and help preserve key records of Irish Baptist churches.

As J. D. Douglas said, we are “the inheritors of a great legacy.” Studying church history is more than recording people, movements, and missions—it’s tracing what God is doing in the world. Our history offers an endless source of challenge, encouragement, and inspiration, helping us understand the present, appreciate our heritage, and gain insight into God’s will and ways.

Each year, the Society hosts three meetings featuring a diverse program of historical and theological topics designed to inform, inspire, and engage.
